Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix well until smooth.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is thin. The batter will be very liquid.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
Decoration
- Once cool, you can frost the cake with your favorite chocolate icing.
- Roll out the fondant and use it to create animal shapes to decorate the top of the cake.
Notes
Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake fluffy. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting to prevent the icing from melting. Use food-safe tools when working with fondant to create clean shapes.
