Cooking the Patties
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Form ground beef into small patties and season with salt and pepper.
- Place patties in the skillet and smash them down with a spatula to create crispy edges.
- Cook until browned on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheese on each patty.
Assembling the Sandwich
- While the burgers are cooking, butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Once cheese is melted, remove patties from the skillet.
- In the same skillet, place the buttered side of the bread down and assemble by adding a patty, then another slice of cheese, and top with another slice of bread (buttered side up).
Finishing Touch
- Cook until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted.
- Slice and serve hot.
Notes
