Method
 

Cooking the Patties
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Form ground beef into small patties and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Place patties in the skillet and smash them down with a spatula to create crispy edges.
  4. Cook until browned on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheese on each patty.
Assembling the Sandwich
  1. While the burgers are cooking, butter one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Once cheese is melted, remove patties from the skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, place the buttered side of the bread down and assemble by adding a patty, then another slice of cheese, and top with another slice of bread (buttered side up).
