Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey You can also use chicken or plant-based meat.
  • 1 onion, chopped Chop finely for even cooking.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Use fresh garlic for better flavor.
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes Canned or fresh works; just adjust cooking time.
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup cooked rice Use any type of rice you prefer.
  • 1 head green cabbage, chopped Savoy or Napa cabbage can be used as alternatives.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Consider smoked paprika for a different flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to personal preference.

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet or pan, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, and bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the cooked rice and chopped cabbage, then season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cover the pan and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For a vegetarian version, replace the ground meat with cooked lentils or beans. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. These rolls pair well with crusty bread or a light salad.
