Ingredients
  

Pastry and Filling
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure it's softened for easy mixing.
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup strawberry jam (or fresh strawberry slices tossed with sugar) Use fresh strawberries for added flavor.
  • 1 egg for egg wash
Optional Glaze and Topping
  • ½ cup powdered sugar For the glaze.
  • 1-2 tsp milk To adjust glaze consistency.
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • as needed powdered sugar for dusting Optional topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unfold the puff pastry and cut it into 8 equal rectangles or squares.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.
  4. Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry square and top with strawberry jam or slices.
  5. Fold the edges slightly or crimp them for decoration. Brush with beaten egg.
Baking
  1. Bake for 18-22 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
Optional Glaze
  1. For the optional glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled Danishes.
Serving
  1. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm or chilled.

Notes

To store leftover Danishes, place them in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Can be frozen for about a month; wrap tightly to prevent freezer burn. Experiment with different jams or fruits for variety.
