Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unfold the puff pastry and cut it into 8 equal rectangles or squares.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry square and top with strawberry jam or slices.
- Fold the edges slightly or crimp them for decoration. Brush with beaten egg.
Baking
- Bake for 18-22 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
Optional Glaze
- For the optional glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled Danishes.
Serving
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm or chilled.
Notes
To store leftover Danishes, place them in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Can be frozen for about a month; wrap tightly to prevent freezer burn. Experiment with different jams or fruits for variety.
