Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven and prepare the fries according to the package instructions or cut fresh potatoes into thick slices, toss with olive oil, salt, and garlic powder. Bake or fry until they are golden brown and crispy.
Cooking Veggies
  1. In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the onions, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper. Sauté them until they are soft and slightly caramelized. Add minced garlic and stir for an additional minute.
Cooking Steak
  1. In the same skillet, push the veggies to the side and add the thinly sliced steak. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked through.
Making Cheese Sauce
  1. In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour to make a roux, cooking for about a minute. Gradually whisk in warmed milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Add American cheese, sharp cheddar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until smooth and creamy.
Assembly
  1. Layer the crispy fries on a serving platter. Top with the sautéed steak and veggies. Pour the cheesy sauce over the entire dish. Sprinkle with extra cheese if desired.
Serving
  1. Garnish with chopped parsley and sliced green onions. Serve immediately with hot sauce for those who want a spicy kick!

Notes

Use fresh potatoes for homemade fries for an extra crispy texture. Make sure to slice the steak as thinly as possible for tender bites. Feel free to customize the veggies with mushrooms or jalapeños for added flavor.
