Ingredients
  

Chicken Filling
  • 450 g Ground chicken
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 small Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Fresh ginger, minced
  • 60 ml Hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 120 g Water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks Green onions, sliced
For Serving
  • 1 head Iceberg or butter lettuce leaves separated and washed

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
  2. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it apart, until fully cooked and lightly browned.
  4. Stir in the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until well combined.
  5. Add the chopped water chestnuts and green onions. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat.
  6. Spoon the chicken mixture into lettuce leaves and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve warm with crisp lettuce cups. For a gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce and gluten-free hoisin.
