  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (pink, blue, and/or any desired colors) Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors.
  • Edible gold accents For decoration.
  • Buttercream frosting Refer to frosting instructions for details.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk.
  5. Divide the batter into separate bowls based on the number of colors you want to make. Add food coloring to each bowl until you achieve the desired shades.
Baking
  1. Pour each color of batter into the prepared pans, layering colors as desired.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Let the cakes cool completely.
Frosting and Serving
  1. Layer and frost the cakes with buttercream frosting, creating a watercolor effect by blending the colors.
  2. Finish with edible gold accents for decoration.
  3. Serve and enjoy your beautiful ombre watercolor cake!

Notes

Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting. Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
