Ingredients

Deviled Egg Base
  • 6 Large eggs hard-boiled
  • 1/3 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1.5 tsp Mustard Dijon or yellow
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar or honey
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper
  • Salt to taste

  • Chives or green onions optional garnish

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Fork or Hand Mixer
  • Piping bag or spoon

Method

Instructions
  1. Place eggs in a saucepan, cover with water, bring to a boil, then simmer for 9–10 minutes. Transfer to ice water and let cool completely.
  2. Peel the eggs, slice in half lengthwise, and remove the yolks into a mixing bowl. Arrange egg whites on a serving platter.
  3. Mash the yolks until smooth. Add mayonnaise, mustard, sweetener, black pepper, and salt. Mix until creamy.
  4. Fold most of the chopped smoked turkey bacon into the filling, reserving some for garnish.
  5. Spoon or pipe the filling into the egg whites. Garnish with remaining bacon, paprika, and optional chives before serving.

Notes

For best results, prepare the filling and egg whites separately up to one day ahead and assemble just before serving. Smoked mushrooms or crispy tempeh can be used as a vegetarian alternative.
