  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage You can use turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
Sauce and Seasoning
  • 2 cups low carb pizza sauce You can make your own if preferred.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Cheese and Toppings
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Feel free to use other cheese types like cheddar or provolone.
  • Toppings of choice (pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, etc.) Consider adding fresh basil or extra cheese on the side.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or sausage, onion, and bell pepper until the meat is browned and the vegetables are softened. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Assembly
  1. In a baking dish, layer half of the meat mixture, followed by a layer of cheese. Repeat the layers.
  2. Add your favorite toppings on the top layer of cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze tightly wrapped for up to 2 months. You can prepare it ahead of time, just adjust baking time if coming directly from the fridge.
