Cake Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 cup milk at room temperature
  • 3.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, until well combined.
  7. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decoration
  1. Once cooled, frost with buttercream frosting and decorate with graduation-themed elements.

Notes

Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for easier mixing. To make the cake extra moist, you can add a little yogurt to the batter. Decorate with fresh fruits or edible glitter for a fun twist. Double the recipe for a bigger celebration or tiered cake.
