  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • few drops Pink or Red Food Coloring optional

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture.
  5. Add food coloring if using, then roll dough to ¼-inch thickness and cut into heart shapes.
  6. Bake for 6–9 minutes until set but not browned. Cool before serving or decorating.

Notes

For best results, avoid overbaking. Cookies should be just set and pale for a soft texture. Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
