- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened, then drain excess fat.
- In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, paprika, and black pepper until smooth.
- Grease a 9x13 baking dish. Layer half of the potatoes, half of the beef mixture, some sauce, and a portion of cheese. Repeat layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for beef and use low-fat cheese. Slice potatoes thinly for even cooking.
