Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 4 cups Potatoes, thinly sliced Yukon Gold or russet
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
Creamy Sauce and Topping
  • 1 can Cream of mushroom soup 10.5 oz
  • 0.5 cup Milk

  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • 9x13 Baking Dish

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened, then drain excess fat.
  2. In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, paprika, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Grease a 9x13 baking dish. Layer half of the potatoes, half of the beef mixture, some sauce, and a portion of cheese. Repeat layers.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
  5. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for beef and use low-fat cheese. Slice potatoes thinly for even cooking.
