- Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions and lightly grease if needed.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Mix all cinnamon swirl ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag.
- Pour waffle batter into the hot waffle iron, pipe the cinnamon swirl on top, then cook until golden and crisp.
- Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over warm waffles before serving.
Notes
For best results, avoid letting the cinnamon swirl touch the edges of the waffle iron to prevent burning. Serve immediately for maximum crispness.
